Senior Curriculum Officer, English - 00003YQY

The Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (‘BOSTES’) is a statutory authority responsible for the curriculum, assessment, teacher accreditation and regulatory standards in NSW schools (Kindergarten to Year 12). The BOSTES is also responsible for developing policies and initiatives for evaluating and improving student learning performance across all schools and school sectors. The BOSTES was established on 1 January 2014 following the merger of the Board of Studies NSW and the NSW Institute of Teachers.

We are looking for a Senior Curriculum Officer, English who will be responsible for providing curriculum and assessment advice in the English learning area, and across the curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12. Responsible for the development of English Years 11–12 syllabuses and materials to support implementation in accordance with BOSTES syllabus development processes.

To be successful in this role you must possess the following essential requirements:

* Tertiary teaching qualifications in English.
* Outstanding recent experience in implementing NSW English curriculum for Years 11-12, including the Extension courses, in government or non-government schools.

How did you work collaboratively with others to deliver the project? What strategies did you implement to ensure the success of the project? What would you do differently next time?

Q2: Describe a recent situation where it was important for you to identify, understand and consider the needs and perspectives of others. How did this influence the outcome of the situation? What strategies did you use to consider and address different perspectives and communicate with those involved? What was the outcome? What did you learn from the experience?

In addition, applicants progressed to interview will be required to undertake 1 or 2 relevant on-line assessments.

Under new employment legislation all current and new Public Service non-executive employees are employed at a classification level and assigned to a role rather than appointed to a position. Employees may be re-assigned to other roles at the same classification over time, in line with organisation priorities and/or personal development plans.

Temporary employments/secondment under sections 43 and 64 of the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 for a period of up to 2 years.

Consistent with the entitlements of public sector applicants, BOSTES is prepared to negotiate bilateral agreements with current employers of successful non-government school applicants to facilitate right of return and recognition of service while employed by the BOSTES.
