Students wishing to study at UK and Australian universities will usually need a band score of six or higher in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). While solid English skills are indispensable to pass IELTS, the knowledge of certain test techniques can substantially improve the band score. If you’re applying to an undergraduate program in the U.S., you will probably have to submit scores for both the TOEFL and the SAT (or ACT). However, in some cases the only required test will either be the TOEFL or the SAT.  The score and exam required changes from each institution. A good SAT English score will often override the requirement of submitting a TOEFL score, since you’ve proven that you’re able to communicate proficiently in English.
